Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT)
/Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) Magnetic Particle Inspection is used to detect surface and near-surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials. MPI is one of the most widely used NDT methods for welds, structural components, and critical load-bearing parts.
MPI is ideal for: • Welds and structural steel • Cranes, lifting devices, and rigging • Heavy equipment components • Pipeline and pressure equipment • Fabricated assemblies
The component is magnetized, and magnetic particles are applied. Any defect disrupts the magnetic field, causing particles to gather and reveal the flaw.
Our MPI procedures follow CGSB 48.9712, ASTM E709, and CSA requirements. All inspections are performed by CGSB-certified technicians with extensive field experience.
