Hardness Testing UCI Method (HT)

Hardness Testing (UCI Method) Ultrasonic Contact Impedance (UCI) hardness testing provides fast, accurate hardness measurements with minimal surface marking. UCI is ideal for welds, heat-affected zones, structural steel, and components where traditional bench hardness testers cannot be used.

UCI is used for: • Welds and welded components • Heat-treated materials • Structural steel and fabrication • Pipeline and pressure equipment • Thin, small, or delicate parts • Field environments requiring portable testing

A vibrating diamond indenter is pressed into the material. The change in ultrasonic frequency correlates to hardness, allowing precise readings with very small indentation.

Our hardness testing follows ASTM A1038 and industry acceptance criteria.
